This advanced course builds on the foundation of the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) skills and guides you through real‑world obedience challenges, including polite leash walking, distraction control, group behavior, and much more. By the end of the program, you and your dog will be ready to confidently earn the official CGCA title.

To earn the CGCA official title from the AKC, your dog must already have a Canine Good Citizen (CGC) on record.

What You’ll Learn

• Polite waiting under control while owner fills out paperwork or enjoys the community

• Loose-leash walking in natural situations with turns, pace changes, and around crowds

• Walking past other dogs and distractions without pulling

• Sit‑stay and down‑stay in small groups with other dogs and people

• Allowing strangers to approach and pet politely

• Following “Leave it” commands around food or objects

• Distance stays while owner retrieves items and recalls with distractions

• Controlled doorway and narrow passage behavior
